I daily look around me,
At this world of sin.
I see the utter depravity
Of mortal women and men.
Surely, the mark of Satan's deception
Never has been clearer,
As the final day, of earth as we know it,
Continues to draw nearer.
While the world system presses from without
To make God's people conform,
The inner struggles I daily face
Are the ones that leave me most worn.
I often find myself longing
For my heavenly home...
For my Spirit to soar to the presence of God,
piercing through earth's blue dome.
Ecclesiastes tells us
There's nothing new under the sun.
Man's desire to escape to heaven
Must be a timeless one.
The Apostle Paul said, if given the choice,
He didn't know which he would choose...
To minister on earth, or go be with Christ.
He was torn between the two.
But one magnanimous figure
Looms tall above all others.
He longed to leave the perfection of heaven
To go to his earth-dwelling brothers.
He daily looked below Him
At this world of sin.
He saw the utter depravity
Of mortal women and men.
But instead of it making Him turn his head
To look the other way,
He desired to bring redemption.
From earth's foundation He had planned the day.
As humans we can't comprehend
The depth of a Creator's love,
Who would pay the price - Himself sacrifice -
Leaving His throne above.
My lips can only utter, "Forgive me!
Lord, grant to me your heart.
For the rest of the days I'm given,
Help me to do my part.
Let me not count it a burden
To live on this earth below,
But a privilege to seek as you did,
Each lost, forgotten soul.
Father, I hate to admit it.
I'm so far from being there,
But to be filled with Your compassion...
This is my heartfelt prayer."
